Description
Carved large spalted maple burl bowl with six articulated carved spoon forms. All from one single piece of yellow birch burl. Reverse and spoon handles are textured, scorched, Watco and Minwax oil finish.
Reunion was carved from a single maple burl. The forms were drawn directly onto the wood’s surface, then chain-saw carved, stippled and burned. The six sibling spoons, link to the parent bowl with a genetic unity, in a vernacular that harkens to folk carvings and measuring spoons. It also illustrates the constraints and comforts of a large family. (I am the 3rd of six)
