A rare American beech burl was turned and carved to form a shallow bowl form surrounded by a 'ruff' of pleated form. The reverse is heavily stippled and darkened for contrast. Watco oil finish.
A single red maple burl turned on 3-axis and carved to resemble a vase form clothed with bound panels. The vessel is textured and scorched with pyrography. The handmade binding cords are kumihimo braids of waxed linen thread.
A cherry burl with bark seam lathe-turned and carved to resemble a vessel form-within-a-fabric form. The two bands were generated in the turning and seem to 'bind' the fabric to the vessel. Watco and Minwax oil finish.
