Description
Elaborate tableaux consists of large hollow basswood Story Book, carved with Celtic braid motif, pyrography; hinged, with cord and button closure.
Contains album of photos and texts which describe all aspects of the making of the Story Book. The base of Baltic birch plywood with walnut frame is carved and textured to resemble damask weave. Carved and bleached maple "fabric" on base holds the following: carved basswood book resembles a dictionary; surmounted by carved cherry book, smaller carved and pyrographed maple "notebook" with pencil, large carved and textured walnut volume entitled "Omnibus" and a pair of smaller matching carved maple volumes in carved slipcases, one of which is hollow and contains a hand-made guest book signed by attendees at exhibits of the piece.
