Collection Items

Timepiece Bowl
A rare American beech burl was turned and carved to form a shallow bowl form surrounded by a 'ruff' of pleated form. The reverse is heavily stippled and darkened for contrast. Watco oil finish.

Queen Dido Vase
A single red maple burl turned on 3-axis and carved to resemble a vase form clothed with bound panels. The vessel is textured and scorched with pyrography. The handmade binding cords are kumihimo braids of waxed linen thread.

Hippolyta Vase
A 3-axis lathe-turned vessel with a dark, stippled and textured background and polished sections which resemble 'armor'. Watco oil finish

Salome Vase
A 2-axis lathe-turned 'pilgrim vessel' form with the surface carved to resemble drapery with two carved buckles at the 'shoulders'. Watco oil finish.

First Lady Vase
Turned & carved Spalted Yellow Birch Vase, Walnut button.
3-axis turning carved to resemble a wrapped form. Pyrography texture. Watco and Minwax oil finish.

Diagonal Pleated Birch Vase
A spalted yellow birch turned form carved with a diagonal linenfold motif. Watco and Minwax oil finishes.

Bound Vase
A cherry burl with bark seam lathe-turned and carved to resemble a vessel form-within-a-fabric form. The two bands were generated in the turning and seem to 'bind' the fabric to the vessel. Watco and Minwax oil finish.

Spiral Wrap Vase
A cherry burl turned and carved off-lathe with wrapped panels and textured with punches which create small bumps. Watco and Minwax oil finishes.

Belted Vase
A spalted yellow birch burl lathe-turned with a smooth vessel surface and a snakeskin-textured belt and buckle carved from the body of the form. Watco oil finish.

Triple Banners Vase
A red maple burl form lathe-turned and carved with three overlapping banner motifs, making use of natural fissures in the burl. Dark stipples and pyrography background. Watco oil finish.
