Description

10-part piece. Approx. 6 feet long, heights ranging from 4" to 14". Yellow birch, white birch, cherry, sugar maple, brass rod and fixtures.
An exciting experiment for me. Having made a couple of 'wall necklaces,' I wanted next to make a linked, but flexible form for the tabletop. The three bowls, two candleholders, three vases and two 'clasps' can be arranged and re-arranged, used singly or in groups. I used the organic forms of each piece of wood as a starting-point, making sinuous, smooth forms with no extra surface carving or burning. Some were turned, some roughed out on the bandsaw. The brass connecting pins were manipulated free-form, the brass candle cups were turned from plumbing fixtures.
